It is always exciting working with Cannon Frank. Their ability to think outside the box for some really creative design solutions is amazing, but even more amazing is being able to stay within the project budget. We love what they did for us. Homeowner

Original Kitchen
Designed with architect Edward G. Raap in the 1980s, the all-granite floors complement the colors of satin salmon. The acrylic lacquer is trimmed in periwinkle to complement the sunset views from the outdoor balconies with Lake Michigan in the background. In fact, the clients were so adamant about matching the fabrics to the spectacular colors of the sunset that it took John Cannon four evenings of sitting in the kitchen, drinking a lot of wine with fabric samples spread out all around him to finally select the right one!

Updated Kitchen
Updated in 2008, Cannon Frank reviewed the kitchen layout and decided there was no need to make the kitchen more efficient, and decided the only change needed was an upgrade to the materials.

The original concept to not have upper cabinetry (which would block the views of Lake Michigan) remained, especially since the home has a 75 foot glass wall overlooking the lake. Quartz countertops were selected for beauty and durability. The cabinetry is figured anigre. John Cannon simplified the millwork details to allow the beauty of the wood to be featured throughout.

Kitchen table
The request was to ultimately create a lightweight, glass kichen table. However, Cannon Frank commissioned a glass artist who was able to carve the globe, the constellations and the birth signs of each resident in the house in the ¾” glass. Upon completion of each layer of carving, the artist sealed and painted each layer to add the perception of depth….which made the piece an art piece and something the clients could eventually pass on to their children.

Guest bedroom
The millwork is in Australian walnut with a floating bed, headboard and two nightstands all in matching material to create a masculine yet comfortable and warm setting for any guest.
